Arctic Zero(New Flavors)

@arcticzero Rocky Road Trip , another new release from the people over at AZ. Thanks again for letting me give it a go. .
.
300 cals for this pint. Chocolate base with mini marshmallows and roasted almonds. This pint definitely doesn’t lack mix’in’s. Loads of mallows and almonds in pretty much every bite, specially almonds. I would say my biggest point to work on for this flavor would be just kicking up the chocolate base flavor a bit more. I definitely like the PB flavor over this, but that’s personal preference as I’m not a huge nut in my food guy. .

Peanut Butter Swirl

Vanilla base with swirls of Peanut butter throughout. It does have a similar taste to a PB2 taste, which is to be expected. Also, It’s got some white chips adding in for a bit of a crunch, and honestly I get a bit of a sea Salt taste at the end as well. If you let it sit out for awhile,it gets pretty soft and smooth.
For 300 calories a pint this is definitely something to grab. High up on my list of flavors

@arcticzero Cherry Chocolate Chunk –
Another pint, another 300 cals. I was very impressed with this flavor. Cherry vanilla base with chunks of chocolate and cherry scattered throughout the pint. Gives you a nice chocolate covered cherry feel without the base being to overpowering of a cherry flavor. Worth mentioning that I don’t like cherry that much yet this was quite good. This one also softened up amazing. If you are a cherry fan then this one is definitely up your alley. .
Great job @arcticzero 👌

Opti Fit Line

Break away from protein bars for a sec. I think powders are just as prevalent in our industry. .
@optimumnutrition Opti-fit Shake – .
200 cals / 3.5g fat / 16c / 25p / 6 fiber .

Now this is designed as a meal replacement shake. I do this this are valuable in the right circumstances. Gives you just a bit more than just a protein intake. Typically a good fiber content and vitamins and minerals.
.
Mixability on this product is slightly underwhelming. I would give it 5-6/10. Lots of chunks well drinking. Smells way better mixed up than it did in the tub. Mixes pretty watery and grainy unfortunately. I think that’s coming from the chickpea powder. Overall flavor was lacking as well, very weak vanilla flavor. Nutritional panel is very similar to the @gnclivewell leanshake, but doesn’t taste as good. .
Overall:
3/10

Daily Fit – thermos are hard to do a review on, specially since I don’t take them. Can’t just mix it up and taste it haha. I can say it has a simple minimal ingredient list, that makes sense. Green tea, carnitine, loads of B vitamins, a just a few more items.

@reddbar Peanutbutter Bar Review –

230 cals / 10f / 29c / 10p –
.
11 superfoods, 23 vitamins and minerals, a bit of caffeine , gluten free, non gmo, plant based, and pretty much free of everything so they got it on that front. Bar has a rich peanut butter smell off the bat. Visually looks exactly how a superfoods bar would look like in my mind. Peanuts , pats, quinoa, agave are the first ingredients so that’s your main fat and carb sources, so good energy there. I would complain about only 10g of protein if this claimed itself a protein bar but it doesn’t. First bite you get a good chew, a small bit of crunch which is nice. Overall flavor starts off with a bit of sweet from the agave, then you get a backdrop of peanut butter in there, but nothing stands out. If the peanut butter flavor was a bit richer, or they had better supporting flavor this would be a solid bar. .
Would recommend if you are trying to steer clear of unwanted goodies in your bars. .
Overall 7/10

One Bowl Chocolate Toffee Oat Muffins w/ Caramel

I bet when you read toffee, you sat there thinking “really, toffee bro. I don’t have that.” Well, I’m here to tell you to get your hands on some.Get toffee here I really feel toffee is an extremely underrated flavor in the baking world. I know it’s a bit more common overseas, but you rarely find it here in the U.S. I find it to be a very versatile flavoring to work with. Mixes well with chocolates, caramel, and banana just to name a few. If you follow the blog then you know I am a fan of muffins, and use oats in them quite often. A few reasons why I enjoy oat muffins are 1. They are easy to grab, carry, and eat. 2. You can squeeze in all sorts of goodies in muffins like fruits,healthy fats, and good carb sources(oats) 3. They are typically easier to make in the baking world.  Great for beginner bakers, which I find a lot of my readers are!

  • Once all ingredients are added and incorporated, place your bowl in the fridge for at least 30 minutes to allow oats to soak up some liquid. Batter will get thicker.
  • Once your almost ready to pull out of the fridge, preheat your oven to 350 degrees and spray your muffin pan with non stick spray.
  • Using a spoon(I used a small ladle) pour batter evenly into prepared muffin pan.
  • Bake on the middle rack for roughly 12-15 minutes. *Cooking times may vary*
  • Use the toothpick test to check if done, then take out of the oven and set pans on cooling rack.
  • After a few minutes I used a frosting spatula to slowly take each muffin out, ensuring I don’t rush and break it well taking it out. Place back on cooling rack to finish cooling.
  • One cool, take caramel sauce of choice and drizzle over the top of your muffins.
  • Lastly, pick it up and stuff in your face.
  • Oh, and enjoy the fruits of your labor!

With spring right around the corner I am feeling ready bring in and welcome some lighter flavors. With warmer temps it typically bring in a wide variety of various fruits, vanillas, and other lighter flavor combinations. I had a load of fresh oranges which ended up being today’s inspiration. Working with fresh compared to artificial is almost always better.Got into the kitchen and  whipped up these delicious Orange Cranberry muffins with a cream cheese frosting and toasted walnuts.

  6. Place batter evenly into a prepared muffin tin. You can either spray with non stick spray or use muffin liners. Either or will work here.
  7. Place in the middle of your oven and bake for roughly 14 minutes.
  8. Check if done, once toothpick comes out clean remove from the oven and place on a cooling rack. Leave in the tin to cool for 10 minutes then remove and place back on the rack.
  9. Well muffins are cooling, place all of your frosting ingredients into a medium bowl and mix well.
  10. Now here is where you can do two things. Either just spread frosting on your muffins, or grab out a piping bag and get a little creative with your decorations!
  11. Additional toppings could include toast nuts, orange zest, dried or fresh fruit, and powdered sugar are just a few!
