Up for today’s #nutbutter review: @dsnaturals

Vanilla Maple 15f/7c/11p – very good smell of Maple, great texture as its very smooth. Would be great for a drizzle of some sorts. I get more vanilla than I do maple. I make my own maple syrup so I got a taste for it, so definitely try to increase that. Pleasant aftertaste as well. Good consistency for being kept in the fridge. Doesn’t get hard as a rock

Brownie batter – 15f/7c/11p – good chocolate brownie smell, again good smooth consistency even after being in the fridge. Easy to spread. You can taste the almond a lot on this one with a backdrop of chocolate. Would definitely try to increase the chocolate.

Both also get good marks for vegan friendly, gluten. Dairy, soy, lactose, etc etc free.
These are both solid buys, and I would recommend👍

Cause 2 types of chocolate are always better than one

IMG_20151119_174714342_HDRI planned on making some snickerdoodle cake bars last night but as I got half way into making them I realized I didn’t have all the ingredients I needed. SHIT! So I ended up whipping these Chocolate Cake bars with White Chocolate Chips instead. They arnt bad, but I still need to put some work into them.

I figured I would share with you guys and let you give them a shot!

What you will need.

1 can white beans ( I used cannelloni beans)

2 scoops Chocolate Protein powder

10g Coco Powder

92g Egg Whites

90g Pumpkin Puree

32g Chocolate Almond Butter

30g Oat Flour(ground up oats)

1tsp baking powder

1/8 tsp baking soda

21g White Chocolate Chips .

Preheat oven to 350.

First Rinse and drain your beans. Next you are going to want to grind them up into a soft paste or flour consistency.

Once that is done mix in you coco powder, protein, baking soda and powder, and oat flour. Mix until combined.

Then add in pumpkin, egg whites, and almond butter.

Mix everything till combined.

Once mixed, then add in 14g of your chips and mix once again.

Grab a 9×9 baking dish and spray it down. Pour batter into the dish then place the remaining 7g of chips into the batter scattered over the top.

Place in oven for roughly 15-20min. Varies per oven, and proteins.

Use a toothpick test to check doneness.

Once baked, pop out and place on a cooling rack to rest. Once cooled, cut into 9 pieces and devour.

Macros per 1 piece: 121 cals / 2.7 fat / 14.8 carb / 11.3 protein with 3.8g of fiber.

There you have it! All done! I hope you enjoy, and if you give them a shot let me know! I love to hear the feedback! Tag me on Instagram as well! d_chron !

If a smores walked into a cake factory and got alil “Dirty”

As its getting colder I started thinking about campfires……which leads me to food….which leads me to smores of course. Figured it has been awhile since I have don’t anything smores themed, so here we go!

Here is what you will need.

1 scoop (34g for mine) of Smores Protein

5g Coco

92g Liquid Egg Whites

120g Pumpkin

4g Hot Coco Mix

3 Splenda Packets

15g Self Rising Flour

30g Coconut Flour

1.5 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp baking soda

Milk to mix.

I added just a smidge of 0 cal chocolate sauce

Pre heat Oven to 350

Line and spray down baking dish

Mix everything in a bowl and pour into dish.

Bake for roughly 25-35min. I also had pizza cooking at the same time so the oven got opened multiple times throughout this cooking time.

Well that is Baking in a bowl mix:

30g Chocolate Protein

5g Coco

4g hot Coco mix

Milk/ 0 cal chocolate sauce to mix. Place in fridge.

Once Cake is baked, pop out and place on rack to cool.

Once cool, put it on a plate, take your frosting out and start frosting. (I usually will add a bit more liquid after pulling out of the fridge)

Once Frosted I dusted with 2g of grahm cracker crumbs and 15g of mini marshmallows. Obviously I added more after the fact but doesn’t matter for the recipe.

Macros for Entire Cake with toppings : 638 Cals / 8.8 Fat / 77.4 Carb / 67.2 protein / and a whopping 22.5g of fiber

Macros for 1/4 of the Cake with Toppings: 159 Cals / 2.2 fat / 19.3 carb / 16.7 protein / 5.6g of fiber

Get to the Choppa! Arnold Muscle Bar Chocolate Brownie Review

The title…. I just had……

Alright, so I recently picked up the new Arnold Series Muscle Bar. Flavor Chocolate Brownie. I do believe they also have a cinnabun and Chocolate PB as well, so be on the lookout for those reviews as well 😉

Before We dive into this stats for the bar:

Macros: 1 bar(90g) 370 cals , 16g of fat / 30g of carbs / 30g of protein / 2g fiber / 7g sugar.

IMG_20150717_150049420 IMG_20150717_150057478

If you are knowledgeable on Quest Protein bars you will see that there is at least twice the ingredients if not triple compared to Quest.

First Glance out of the Wrapper : Had some minor melting on the top of the package but nothing to worry about. This bar being 90g compared to your usual 60g’ ish bars had a bit more density to it. Not really “squishy” or soft like you may find with a quest or ohYeah bar. Has a bit more richer chocolate smell than my previous review had, but still didn’t get a ‘chocolate brownie’ feel with just the smell.

No Fancy additions to this bar. Just a flat brown bar, yet good size to it.

Once you break it open you see that it has a Softer brownie layer that was more like a cake feel than a brownie.

Lower level was a much thicker, chewy, brownie feel which I happened to enjoy.  This bar actually looked like what the picture had shown on the wrapper unlike my previous review.

I decided to do this review in 3 parts.

Room temp: Wasn’t to bad right out of the package. The Top portion of the bar(the softer cake) tended to have a slight grainy texture to it which I wasn’t a huge fan of. The layer of chocolate on the outside was quite thin which most of the top had gotten stuck to the package. The bottom layer however gave me a nice chew.

Warm: Heating it up slightly helped to bring out the flavor of the chocolate outside lining but IMO made the inside of the bar worse tasting.

Cold: Cold was my favorite way to eat this I think. I felt that it helped to bring out the chocolate flavor of the entire bar and made it seem a bit sweeter. This way made me feel like I was eating a brownie the most.

30g of protein

Dense feel when eating

Has a nice Milk Chocolate flavor

Looked like the picture

Nice chewy brownie layer

Grainy Brownie Layer

Not super strong on the chocolate flavoring

Warming it up made it worse

16g of fat along with 7g of sugar  is a bit steep for the flavoring of the bar

I know not every bar needs a ton of fiber but for 370 cals and 30 carbs I would of liked to see a bit more fiber.

High Calorie Bar

Long Ingredient List.

Slightly higher in Price.

Alright so now to get to the ratings. I am going to do this in 2 parts then combine the two ratings.

Macro Ratings: IMO I am going to give this one a 6/10. Super high in Fat compared to a lot of its counter parts, higher in sugar than a lot of competition lately, and so low of fiber. Frankly for almost 400 cals I would of liked to see either a much richer flavor, or more fiber making up the carbs.

Taste Rating: 8.5/10. Was enjoyable to eat, really enjoyed the chewy brownie layer but I think the top layer and outer coating could use a bit of work. Wouldn’t throw it away but wouldn’t buy it again either. Much rather go with a Combat Crunch if I wanted to stay with Muscle Pharm.

So now, lets combine the two.

Overall Rating: 7.8/10 or a B- , good enough to get by but never first in line.

Interested to see how the Chocolate Pb and Cinnabun Stack up against this.

Bare with me as I am still trying to get the hang of these reviews!
